Ameribec Fusion belly dance teachers Charmiss and Merna

This Bellydance is Done to Have Pure Fun

Celebrating its 10th Year, Ameribic Fusion is a local MENHAT (Middle Eastern, N. African, Hellenic & Turkish), aka bellydance troupe led by Charmiss Farha and Marina. Their teachings infuse movement and music from many regions with a strong foundation in American Cabaret Bellydance. Charmiss and Marina teach 5 classes a week, in 3 locations, including the Leland Arts Center and a free class at the NHC Senior Center.

More commonly known as belly dancing, this ancient art form promotes the health of the body, mind and spirit.  It focuses on the isolation and manipulation of the ribcage, arms, belly and pelvis, using all of the major muscle groups in the body.  As one progresses through each move, the whole body’s coordination improves allowing students to move with grace and confidence.  This is a dance form not only for the eyes to appreciate, but for the body’s well-being.  Women of all ages, shapes and ability levels are invited to enjoy this opportunity to create a connection to the power in your body through movement in an atmosphere of encouragement and support.

A Holistic Approach to Promote Body, Mind and Spirit

Middle Eastern dance incorporates a holistic approach to promote the health of the body, mind and spirit. All major muscle groups are utilized, developing strength, muscle control, endurance and flexibility, while also creating a sense of community among students within the class. Bellydance is very inclusive. People of all ages, shapes and ability levels can enjoy this dance form while improving the whole body’s coordination and mental alertness.

Shake Your Shimmy with Charmiss and Marina

Charmiss Farha and Marina are instructors and performers of MEHNAT (Middle Eastern, Hellenic, North African & Tunisian) dance, more commonly known as American Bellydance. We offer classes and entertainment (via dancing and drumming), as well as education regarding the music and rich history of this ancient art form.

Marina began studying Egyptian cabaret with her grandmother when she was seven, but as a teen was told she would not be allowed to dance anymore. The music and culture never left her and nearly 30 years later a friend insisted she go back to what she loved. Since returning to dance, the last eight years have been filled with many new experiences and extraordinary teachers.

Charmiss Farha is a former member of the Ameribic Magic dance troupe in MD and began studying the dance almost 20 years ago when she answered an ad “Learn to Bellydance.” She fell in love with the dance and has taken classes from a variety of instructors. In 2014 Charmiss began teaching in Wilmington. Her dedication to the art is evident in the multiple techniques she shares with her students.
